It offers a comprehensive overview of how a data-driven approach can be leveraged to enhance faculty development programs and effectively integrate the QM framework in course design to impact student learning. The presentation will provide actionable takeaways and best practices for using data to evaluate faculty development and QM implementation.

Putting Data to Work to Close Student Achievement Gaps

Idaho Digital Learning Alliance (IDLA) has developed a system to deliver data nudges to the right person, at the right time, in the right place, and for the right reasons to be a potent change agent. Data nudges are proactive ways of providing actionable alerts to parents, students, and teachers. Examples include when students fall behind, have late assignments, or have otherwise been identified as "At Risk" for failing. This nudging system, which we call Clarity, is helping us to assist students and close student achievement gaps proactively.

Quality Beyond the Content - How to Evaluate the Quality of Your Interaction with Students

Research shows that student outcomes are significantly affected by the instructor's belief in their abilities. If so, it would be important to understand how this belief gets translated to students through your written and verbal communication. After analysis of several thousand text threads and comparison of student outcome data, patterns of both effective and ineffective communication emerged. These patterns have been codified into a rubric for training and self evaluation. Learn all about our process, findings, the rubric, and how to use it in this session.

Research Tools for Quality Online Education: An Example of an Online Learner Readiness Instrument

This session will focus on using research tools to collect data to support online learners. We will discuss our journey in re-developing an online learner readiness instrument at two universities. We will describe our collaborative research process and share the results of our validation study. Then we will discuss how the Learning Skills Journey Tool has been re-conceptualized to support undergraduate learners in self-assessment, connecting students with resources and support services, and helping student support coaches identify opportunities for students to develop learning skills.

The Invaluable Role of Online Learning Professionals in Promoting Data-Driven Institutional Change

For many academic institutions, online learning has become an increasingly integral component of their educational enterprises (Garrett et al., 2022). However, a fundamental question underpins each of these initiatives. How can institutions efficiently and intentionally evaluate the efficacy of their online learning operations and chart a course forward that would maximize the success of their learners? Critical to the conversations addressing this question is the involvement of instructional designers, e-learning administrators, and other institutional online learning professionals.
