Quality Matters: Your Friend for Accreditation and Compliance

Quality Matters provides a framework to address accreditation and compliance issues in online learning environments. This presentation extends the scope of QM from course level instructional design rigor to that of an organizational construct to support institutional and state-level compliance and accreditation needs. The presentation concludes with a look into emerging technologies that will impact online course development, delivery, and even accreditation.

Reimagine an On-Campus/Classroom Course with Digital Storytelling & Blended Learning!

The presenters, Denise Kreiger and Sharon Stoerger, School of Communication and Information at Rutgers University, discuss a newly designed course project where students construct digital stories about hashtag activism movements using the Storify technology tool. This project extends the large-lecture hall classroom through an "online component" in an LMS to create a substantial blended learning environment.

This project extends the large-lecture hall classroom through an "online component" in an LMS to create a substantial blended learning environment. It provides students with an engaging, inquiry-based authentic learning experience that integrates QM standards 2-6 and can be implemented in any delivery format: face-to-face/web-enhanced, hybrid/blended, or online courses.

Strategies for Embedding Academic Support Resources in Online Courses: Implementing QM General Standard 7.3

Improve the quality of your students’ research and writing by embedding a learner support team into your online course. Find out how faculty, librarians, writing consultants and instructional designers at Berkeley College teamed up to accomplish this by applying QM General Standard 7.3. Participants will discover how to structure, implement and assess a team-facilitated online course that puts expert academic assistance at students’ fingertips and improves learning outcomes.

The Changing Landscape of Accreditation: Implications for Higher Education Institutions

This session will share insights with conference attendees about what changes are on the horizon for quality assurance in higher education. Topics will include understanding federal regulations and public expectations, communicating the quality of innovative instructional and delivery practices, and positioning your campus for student success and reaffirmation of accreditation.

The Course Map on the Road to QM!

Often, faculty are unfamiliar with instructional design principles and at the same time instructional designers are unfamiliar with course subject matter. As for the students, their question is, "Why am I doing this?" This session will discuss using course maps to help faculty and designers work together to conceptualize goals for instruction, to help students understand the purpose of course goals and instructional materials, and to design instruction that satisfies QM alignment standards (2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 4.1, 5.1, and 6.1).
