PhotoVoice - A Teaching and Learning Strategy for Promoting Empathy and Critical Thought

Description

Photovoice, originally developed as a qualitative research method, can serve as an effective online teaching and learning strategy. Photovoice blends visual elements and written reflections to respond to meaningful questions in order to identify actionable solutions. Implementing Photovoice effectively can enhance student interactions by sparking thoughtful, authentic conversations that help students apply course content to their personal experiences. In this session, experienced educators and instructional designers, Heidi Schroeder, Joy Wu, and Tiffany Moy, will discuss relevant research as well as their experiences implementing Photovoice in a variety of courses. Faculty and Instructional Designers who are interested in gaining a new strategy for promoting critical thought and empathy in their students will not want to miss this interactive session!
