“Quality Matters' established reputation as a global leader in online education quality assurance, combined with its research-supported standards and peer review process, makes it an ideal partner for maintaining educational excellence.”Dr. Morris Thomas, Assistant Provost for Digital and Online Learning

QM Consulting is here to help institutions grow and scale their online quality assurance framework — just ask Howard University. The globally admired HBCU and top national research institution has developed a robust portfolio of online courses that spans multiple disciplines and degree levels. When the institution decided to make a deeper investment in its quality assurance practices with a new unit, it turned to QM. “Quality Matters' established reputation as a global leader in online education quality assurance, combined with its research-supported standards and peer review process, makes it an ideal partner for maintaining educational excellence,” says Dr. Morris Thomas, Assistant Provost for Digital and Online Learning and Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Assessment.

The university’s online programs include an MBA, Executive MBA, Graduate Nursing programs, and a Master of Social Work, among others. These programs are complemented by flexible learning options through the Undergraduate Degree Completion Program, which caters to adult learners seeking to finish their bachelor's degrees.

This diverse array of online options for learners requires a thoughtful strategic focus supplemented by QM’s support services. Led by QM’s Director of QA Implementation Solutions Dr. Racheal Brooks, QM Consulting has begun helping Howard advance its newly founded Learning Design and Quality Assurance Unit, maximizing the impact of i already robust quality practices.

Dr. Brooks and the team at Howard are working to collaboratively assess, improve and supplement the procedures and resources the unit uses to support faculty across the institution’s campus with self-sufficient quality assurance . “She has really served as a thought partner whose approach is not prescribed but concerned with strategically identifying specific strengths, desired goals and potential gaps — ultimately to move toward continuous improvement,” says Dr. Thomas.

“Although we are still in the early stages of the consultation, I have already noticed improvements in workflow efficiency,” says Tamara Nelson, Director of Learning Design and Quality Assurance. “These early successes are encouraging, and I look forward to continuing my sessions with Dr. Brooks to build on this progress and achieve even greater outcomes.”
