As we engage with the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) in collegial conversations, we may be encouraged and excited to implement AI into our learning design and teaching contexts. The QM rubric reminds us that, when we implement AI as a tool, we need to prioritize alignment to learning objectives. This discussion begins with the QM concept of alignment and then overlays the lens of Universal Design for Learning. How can we extend our understanding of alignment to embrace our pedagogical values?
Updating the curriculum within programs involves many factors. This session will identify some of the challenges our team faces during the curricular update. We will highlight the external forces that led to the curriculum update, how we initiated the process, the current progress, and our long-term goals for these improvements. Additionally, we will invite participants to share their insights on benchmarking to help our team improve the process.
As artificial intelligence (AI) tools become increasingly available to students, educators and instructional designers face new challenges in upholding academic integrity while also leveraging AI for learning and innovation. This session explores the evolving landscape of AI in education and quality course design, highlighting both its potential and the ethical dilemmas it presents. We will discuss strategies for designing courses around the challenges of AI, fostering responsible AI use among students, and designing assessments that promote originality and critical thinking.
Multimedia is more than just video; it also includes audio, screencasting, voiceover slide presentations, and immersive videos. We will review the research about these approaches and discuss what this means for creating quality content for our online courses. Then, we will examine key design and production considerations to help you start making your multimedia content that the QM Standards support.
This session for educators and instructional designers unveils key strategies for creating compelling online course content, focusing on storytelling, multimedia integration, and the application of learning theories. Discover how to leverage Custom GPT for personalized learning scenarios and image AI tools for captivating visuals. Attendees will gain practical insights into enhancing learner engagement in their online courses.
In this session, participants will learn how to critically analyze their course structure, content, and design methods to identify areas for improvement. Since we are breaking down existing content, learners will be equipped with tools and strategies to rebuild and implement best practices that ensure a high-quality, student-centered learning environment. This training will foster a deeper understanding of quality assurance principles including alignment and provide actionable insights on how to refine courses for both immediate impact and long-term success.
This presentation explores ways to develop an ecosystem that supports the teaching and learning process through support strategies needed to adapt and thrive. We can foster an environment of empowerment and support by embracing growth opportunities, offering tailored professional development, innovating pedagogical practices, and utilizing AI as a powerful ally for enhancing efficiency. This proactive approach ensures that transformative responses to new challenges become a lasting part of institutional culture.
