Glossary of QM Roles and Terminology

  1. Course Representative
    Definition:

    This person knows and/or developed the course. They can answer any questions about it, and if needed, make or oversee changes.

  2. Lead QM Coordinator (Lead QMC)
    Definition:

    The liaison between QM and the QM Coordinators for QM System affiliates. One or more individuals tasked with managing the System Subscription and implementation among all the member affiliates in the QM System.

  3. QM Coordinator
    Definition:

    Individual responsible for implementing QM at the organization and is the organization’s QM expert. The role is assigned, enabling enrollment in the QM Coordinator Training (a member benefit).

  4. QM IDA Member
    Definition:

    Individual who belongs to the QM Instructional Designers Association. To become a QM IDA Member, you must be an institutional member or individual member of Quality Matters, be employed in the Instructional Design field, and have hands-on instructional design experience in the last six months.

  5. QM-Certified APPQMR Face-to-Face Facilitator
    Definition:

    Individual who is eligible to deliver QM’s face-to-face version of the Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) workshop for the institution or system. To become a QM-Certified APPQMR Face-to-Face Facilitator, you must complete the Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) workshop, then Peer Reviewer Course (PRC), followed by the APPQMR Face-to-Face Facilitator Certification (AFFC). The institution or system holds the training license as part of a Higher Education Full or System membership.

  6. QM-Certified APPQMR Online Facilitator
    Definition:

    Individual who is eligible to deliver QM’s online version of the Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) workshop for the institution or system. To become a QM-Certified APPQMR Online Facilitator, you must complete, in order, the Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) workshop, the Peer Reviewer Course (PRC), and the APPQMR Online Facilitator Certification (AOFC). The institution or system holds the training license as part of a Higher Education Full or System membership.

  7. QM-Certified Continuing and Professional Education Master Reviewer
    Definition:

    To become a QM-Certified Continuing and Professional Education Master Reviewer, you must hold the Higher Education Master Reviewer role and complete the Accelerated Continuing and Professional Education Reviewer Course for Higher Education, or be a K-12  Master Reviewer and complete the Accelerated Continuing and Professional Education Reviewer Course for K-12.

  8. QM-Certified Continuing and Professional Education Reviewer
    Definition:

    Individual who reviews Continuing and Professional Education courses as part of a QM-Managed course review team. To become a QM-Certified Continuing and Professional Education Reviewer, you must either complete the Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) workshop, Peer Reviewer Course (PRC), and the Accelerated Continuing and Professional Education Reviewer Course for Higher Education, have recent online or blended teaching experience or current experience or degree in Instructional Design, and maintain a QM membership through affiliation with a member institution or with an Individual Membership, OR complete the K-12 Applying the QM Rubric (K-12 APP) workshop, K-12 Reviewer Course (K-12 RC), and the Accelerated Continuing and Professional Education Reviewer Course for K-12, have recent online or blended teaching experience or current experience or degree in Instructional Design, and maintain a QM membership through affiliation with a member institution or with an Individual Membership.

  9. QM-Certified Higher Education Course Review Manager
    Definition:

    Individual who is eligible to manage Subscriber-Managed course reviews for the institution or system without an administrative fee for the course review. To become a QM-Certified Higher Education Course Review Manager, you must hold the Higher Education QM Coordinator role, complete the QM Coordinator Training (QMCT), complete the Course Review Manager Certification (CRMC) course, and have a Higher Education Full or System Membership.

  10. QM-Certified Higher Education Publisher Master Reviewer
    Definition:

    Individual who acts as Team Chair as part of either QM-Managed or Subscriber-Managed course review teams reviewing Higher Education Publisher courses. To become a QM-Certified Higher Education Publisher Master Reviewer, you must complete the Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) workshop, the Peer Reviewer Course (PRC), and the Accelerated Higher Education Publisher Reviewer Course for Higher Education, have recent online teaching experience in a for-credit course, participate in at least two QM-Certified course reviews as a QM-Certified Peer Reviewer, complete the Master Reviewer Certification (MRC), and have a Higher Education membership.

  11. QM-Certified Higher Education Publisher Reviewer
    Definition:

    Individual who reviews Higher Education Publisher courses as part of a QM-Managed course review team. To become a QM-Certified Higher Education Publisher Reviewer, you must complete the Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) workshop, Peer Reviewer Course (PRC) and the Accelerated Higher Education Publisher Reviewer Course for Higher Education. You must also have current for-credit online or blended teaching experience (within the last 18 months) and maintain a QM Higher Education Membership through affiliation with a member institution or with an Individual Membership.

  12. QM-Certified IYOC Face-to-Face Facilitator
    Definition:

    Individual who is eligible to deliver QM's face-to-face version of the Improving Your Online Course (IYOC) workshop for the institution or system. To become a QM-Certified IYOC Face-to-Face Facilitator, you must either complete the Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) workshop, the Peer Reviewer Course (PRC), and the IYOC Face-to-Face Facilitator Certification (IFFC) course, or be a QM-Certified APPQMR Face-to-Face Facilitator and complete the Accelerated IYOC Face-to-Face Facilitator Certification (AIFFC). Institution or system members with Full or System memberships are able to purchase a supplemental IYOC training license, which enables this role to be attained to deliver the IYOC workshop for a campus or system.

  13. QM-Certified IYOC Online Facilitator
    Definition:

    Individual who is eligible to deliver QM's online version of the Improving Your Online Course (IYOC) workshop for the institution or system. To become a QM-Certified IYOC Online Facilitator, you must either complete the Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) workshop, the Peer Reviewer Course (PRC), and the IYOC Online Facilitator Certification (IOFC) course, or be a QM-Certified APPQMR Online Facilitator and complete the Accelerated IYOC Online Facilitator Certification (AIOFC) course. Institution or system members with Full or System memberships are able to purchase a supplemental IYOC training license, which enables this role to be attained to deliver the IYOC workshop for a campus or system.

  14. QM-Certified K-12 APP Online Facilitator
    Definition:

    Individual who is eligible to deliver QM’s online version of the K-12 Applying the QM Rubric (K-12 APP) workshop. To become a QM-Certified K-12 APP Online Facilitator, you must complete the K-12 Applying the QM Rubric (K-12 APP) workshop, then K-12 Reviewer Course (K-12 RC), followed by the K-12 APP Online Facilitator Certification (K-12 AOFC) course. The organization has purchased  the training license as an added license to their the K-12 Basic membership or K-12 Consortium membership.

  15. QM-Certified K-12 Course Review Manager
    Definition:

    Individual who is eligible to manage Subscriber-Managed course reviews for the organization or consortium. To become a QM-Certified K-12 Course Review Manager, you must complete the K-12 Applying the QM Rubric (K-12 APP) workshop, the K-12 Reviewer Course (K-12 RC), and the K-12 Course Review Manager Certification (K-12 CRMC) course, and have a K-12 Consortium Membership and Subscriber-Managed Review License or a Basic Membership Course Review Management System (CRMS) License, and Subscriber-Managed Review License.

  16. QM-Certified K-12 Master Reviewer
    Definition:

    Individual who acts as Team Chair as part of either QM-Managed or Subscriber-Managed course review teams reviewing K-12 courses. To become a QM-Certified K-12 Master Reviewer, you must complete the K-12 Applying the QM Rubric (K-12 APP) workshop and the K-12 Reviewer Course (K-12 RC), have taught or developed an online or blended course in the last 18 months, participate in at least two QM-Certified course reviews as a QM-Certified K-12 or K-12 Publisher Reviewer, complete the K-12 Master Reviewer Certification (K-12 MRC), and have a K-12 Membership.

  17. QM-Certified K-12 Publisher Master Reviewer
    Definition:

    Individual who acts as Team Chair as part of a QM-Managed course review team reviewing K-12 Publisher courses. To become a QM-Certified K-12 Publisher Master Reviewer, you must complete the K-12 Applying the QM Rubric (K-12 APP) workshop and the K-12 Reviewer Course (K-12 RC), have taught or developed an online or blended course in the last 18 months, participate in at least two QM-Certified course reviews as a QM-Certified K-12 or K-12 Publisher Reviewer, complete the K-12 Master Reviewer Certification (K-12 MRC), and have a K-12 Membership.

  18. QM-Certified K-12 Publisher Reviewer
    Definition:

    Individual who reviews K-12 Publisher courses as part of a QM-Managed course review team. To become a QM-Certified K-12 Publisher Reviewer, you must either complete the K-12 Applying the QM Rubric (K-12 APP) workshop and K-12 Reviewer Course (K-12 RC), and have taught or developed an online or blended course during the past 18 months, OR complete the Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) workshop, Peer Reviewer Course (PRC), and the Accelerated K-12 Reviewer Course for Higher Education, and have taught or developed an online or blended course during the past 18 months.

  19. QM-Certified K-12 Reviewer
    Definition:

    Individual who reviews K-12 courses as part of either QM-Managed or Subscriber-Managed course review teams. To become a QM-Certified K-12 Reviewer, you must either complete the K-12 Applying the QM Rubric (K-12 APP) workshop and the K-12 Reviewer Course (K-12 RC) and have taught or developed an online or blended course during the past 18 months, OR complete the Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) workshop, Peer Reviewer Course (PRC), and the Accelerated K-12 Reviewer Course for Higher Education, and have prior K-12 teaching experience, have taught dual enrollment courses, or participate in teacher education programs.

  20. QM-Certified Master Reviewer
    Definition:

    Individual who acts as Team Chair as part of either QM-Managed or Subscriber-Managed course review teams reviewing Higher Education courses. To become a QM-Certified Master Reviewer, you must complete the Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) workshop and the Peer Reviewer Course (PRC), have online teaching experience in a for-credit course or experience designing online courses within the last 18 months, participate in at least two QM-Certified course reviews as a QM-Certified Peer Reviewer, complete the Master Reviewer Certification (MRC), and have a Higher Education membership.

  21. QM-Certified Peer Reviewer
    Definition:

    Individual who reviews Higher Education courses as part of either QM-Managed or Subscriber-Managed course review teams. To become a QM-Certified Peer Reviewer, you must complete the Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) workshop and Peer Reviewer Course (PRC), have online teaching experience in a for-credit course or experience designing online courses within the last 18 months, and have a Higher Education Membership.

  22. QM-Certified Program Reviewer
    Definition:

    Individual who reviews programs as part of a QM-Managed program review team. To become a QM-Certified Program Reviewer, you must hold the QM-Certified Master Reviewer role, complete the Reviewer Course for Program Reviews (RCPR), and have a Higher Education Membership.
