This poster presentation will identify how CSU implemented the QM Rubric into their course design process and demonstrate consistent and practical application methods for ensuring quality in online courses. Analytics will be provided to substantiate the impact of the Quality Matters Rubric on QA efforts.

Learn how results of a study at two mid-size community colleges can inform institutional efforts to support faculty development through scaffolded resources and peer mentoring. In the study, faculty were surveyed about their QM perceptions then interviewed about the influence of APPQMR.

Our transition from Blackboard to Canvas was a big undertaking. On top of that, I was the relatively new hire who was to help boost the Quality Matters program at our university. I will share the six lessons I learned from our LMS transition and how these lessons affected our QM program.

This session will discuss the faculty technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge (TPACK) growth that occurs when attended a QM workshop and taught online courses.

While a successful QM review is the ultimate goal, there are many ways to embed quality along the way and maximize "met" objectives. A multi-state panel representing several K-12 programs will discuss how QM principles can be included in all aspects of online education.

The visual elements in a course play an important role in course design and affect course usability.  The poster will show tips on how to create a visually balanced course so that visual elements are not in the way of content (Quality Matters General Standard 8).

Videos can make learning come alive. Especially if they are teacher created. One misconception is that Closed Captioning (CC) is just for deaf and hard of hearing. What about students who are not auditory learners or students whose native language is not English? Closed Captioning can help all learners, but not all CC videos are created equal. Participants will learn how to search for CC videos on both YouTube and Google and evaluate it for accuracy.

After losing $1.6M in performance-based funding due to a 1% decline in success rates, our college committed to improve student success. Learn how a large, multi-campus, unionized college implemented Quality Matters, leading to a 4.6% increase in student success rates.

QM certification requires considerable faculty time and effort. To help faculty with the continuous improvement of their hybrid and online courses through the integration of QM concepts, the QM template is developed at a large, public, comprehensive, unionized university. The Canvas open-source QM template version 4 that supports the 6th edition of QM Rubric will be posted on Canvas Commons. The template consists of three modules: Start-Here, Example Module and Module 1.
