Second Annual Quality Matters Conference

“Improving Outcomes Through Quality Standards”

Chicago, Illinois

June 11 – 13, 2010

  

The Program Planning Committee for the Second Annual Quality Matters Conference is accepting proposals for conference presentations.  Submit your ideas for a Conference Presentation. The deadline for submissions was February 10, 2010.  The call for proposals is CLOSED.

The central theme of this year’s conference is to explore how the Quality Matters Program impacts institutions that adopt its course design standards and faculty development strategies.  The conference will explore a wide range of impacts: Most immediately, the impact on students, but also the impact on faculty, staff and institutions. Presenters will be eligible for the Early Bird conference rate through March 2010.

Tracks:

Best Practices in Implementing QM

Presentations in this category should focus on effective strategies, activities, tools and documents that an institution or consortium has created to introduce QM, build interest in and support for QM, spread the use of QM, or integrate QM into faculty development or program development, etc.

Creative QM Initiatives

Presentations in this category should focus on new and innovative applications of the QM Rubric, training, and course review process, such as application of the rubric to K-12, non-credit, and training courses, unique QM training strategies, and models for informal QM course reviews.

Complementary Tools and Strategies

Presentations in this category should describe other quality assurance strategies, course development tools, course delivery standards, etc. that are being used to supplement the QM Rubric and process.

Research on the Impact of QM

Presentations in this category should report on the questions, methodology, and findings of institution or consortium-based research projects.  For projects that are not yet complete, progress reports and preliminary findings are acceptable.  

Categories:

Individual Presentations

These presentations should be 15-20 minutes in length.  Several related presentations may be scheduled in a single conference session.    

Group Presentations

These presentations should be 40-45 minutes in length and may involve 2-4 presenters on a single theme or from an individual institution.  

Panel Discussions

These sessions will be by invitation only.

Course Demonstrations

These presentations (similar to poster sessions) will give presenters the opportunity to showcase the features of innovative courses that employ Web 2.0 elements, gaming strategies and other cutting edge techniques.

Proposal Submission Guidelines:

The Call for Proposals is now CLOSED. 

No late submissions will be accepted.  

 

Proposals should be submitted using the online form.  The description of the presentation should be no more than 1-2 pages in length, and the other questions on the form should be answered. 

The deadline for submission was Wednesday, February 10, 2010.

Proposals will be reviewed during February, and notifications will go out during the first week of March. Early Bird registration rates will be extended until the end of March 2010 for presenters.  Successful presenters must register for the conference.
